Paula says ~ The tissue salts listed here are the  ‘Biochemic’ Tissue Salts. There are several brands on the market but whatever brand people prefer to use it is all the same thing really. Some Tissue Salts are also sold in premixed combinations. I believe that Tissue Salts are also available in liquid form, but I have never tried it myself. I’m sure it is probably just as good and in some circumstances probably easier to administer.

There is also another brand of Tissue Salts called ‘Homoeoforce’ – They sell already premixed combinations for all sorts of ailments. I don’t really buy much from their range, but they do sell one called ‘COMBIN J’ – (coughs & colds) that I have tried and it is absolutely excellent.

Although I have used Tissue Salts for a few years, and have absolute faith in their effectiveness, I am no expert, the information that I have listed below is information that I have learned from that wonderful book written by Margaret Roberts called ‘Tissue Salts for Healthy Living’. It is an indispensable reference book for anyone who is interested in Tissue Salts and the very real benefits that they offer.

Tissue Salts are the same minerals that are found in the earth’s rocks and soil. These 12 minerals should also be present in the food that we eat, because of mass production, pesticides and MSG’s these minerals are generally not present in food.

Toxicity and/or overdose is not possible.

I have previously discussed it with my homeopath and he said it could do the Ratties no harm whatsoever. He said that he thought it would actually be a good idea to treat them with Tissue Salts as there is little else available for Rats.

I have also asked the VET. He did not know anything about Tissue Salts, but after I gave him a brief description of what they are he also said that he didn’t think that it could harm the rats.

I don’t know anybody else that I could ask about the Tissue Salts… Maybe you know of somebody else that could give us another opinion?

I hand them out like candy to all my friends, family, dogs, cats or rats that may be experiencing physical or emotional trauma.

I’m a Tissue Salt addict ;o)

Tissue Salts will also work miracles on your houseplants, veggie garden etc. (really….. I promise)

‘Biochemic’ Tissue Salts are available from any pharmacy or health shop, and they currently retail for under R25.00 per bottle for 125 tablets. ‘Biochemic’ Tissue Salts are sold in bottles that are numbered from 1 to 12 for each of the twelve minerals. These 12 minerals each have their own function, although they often ‘overlap’.

Some ailments will however require that you combine two or three different Tissue Salts.

If I am only giving my Ratties 1 specific Tissue Salt I give the tablet to them straight into their little hands. (The Rats seem convinced that it is a treat and gobble it all up), and this way you know exactly how much they have taken in.

You could also break the tablet in half or quarters if you feel more comfortable with giving them a smaller dose.

If I am giving a rat a specific combination of Tissue salts, I find it easier to crush the tablets, in the combination that I need E.g.: 2 + 4 + 6 and then, I mix it into their water. Otherwise you have to give the tablets to the rats one at a time and after the second tablet they are bored with the ‘treat’ and can’t be bothered to eat up the rest ;o/ Also, I don’t bother about who gets what, as far as I am concerned they can all benefit from a few minerals. So if one rat gets, then they all get.

Please take careful note that the recommended use of tissue salts in no way replaces tratment of your pet by a registered veterinarian but should be used to supplement proper medical treatment rather than to replace it
